Buying Without an Account

You pay first and pick how to log in afterwards. Here's the order things happen in, and how to get to your credits if you closed the tab.

Melodious does not ask you to create an account before you can buy. You click the buy button, pay, and then choose how you want to log in. Your credits are already waiting when you arrive.

This page covers the order things happen in, and what to do if something interrupts you along the way.

Why it works this way

The usual order is sign up, confirm your email address, come back, then pay. That puts an email round-trip between deciding to buy and being able to, which is a strange place to make someone wait. So the order is inverted: the buy button goes straight to checkout, and the account is created afterwards, when you pick a login.

It is the same pattern as buying from most online shops. Your purchase is attached to the email address you gave at checkout, not to an account, and an account claims it later.

The steps

  1. Click a buy button. On the pricing page that's "Make your first video" ($19) or "Get your full video" ($97). You are not asked to sign in.
  2. Pay on Stripe. Stripe collects your email address and your card. Melodious never sees your card details.
  3. Land on the welcome page. You are returned to Melodious and asked to choose how you want to log in from now on: Continue with Google, or set a password.
  4. You're in. The account is created, your purchase is attached to it, and your credits are there. You go straight to the studio.

There is no email confirmation step in the middle. If you choose Google, that's one click.

Which email should I use? Whichever you like. If you sign in with Google using a different address than the one you typed at Stripe, the purchase still binds to the account you chose — you paid for it, so it's yours to put wherever you want.

If you closed the tab

This is the case worth knowing about, because it is the one that feels alarming. You have not lost the money, and you do not need to buy again.

A purchase with no account attached to it yet is held against the email address you used at checkout. There are three ways it reaches you:

  • The confirmation email. Paying sends an email with a link that takes you back to the same welcome page you left. Pick a login and you're in.
  • Signing up later. If you create an account with the same address you used at checkout, the purchase is found and applied as soon as that address is confirmed. You don't have to do anything.
  • Ask us. Reply to the payment receipt, or write to hello@melodious.ai. We can attach a purchase from the Stripe receipt number.

Purchases that stay unattached raise an internal alert, so this is something we notice rather than something you have to chase.

Common questions

Do I need an account to buy? No. That's the point of this page — the account comes after the payment.

Can I still use Google sign-in? Yes, and it's unchanged. After paying you'll see "Continue with Google" as one of the two options.

I already have a Melodious account. What happens? Use the same email address at checkout and the purchase attaches to your existing account. Log in as normal and the credits will be there.

Where does the money go if I never come back? The purchase sits waiting under your email address indefinitely. It is not consumed, expired, or absorbed. See the three recovery routes above.

Can someone else claim my purchase? No. The link you're returned to after paying is a long, unguessable one-time address that only you receive, and the automatic route only ever fires on an email address that has been confirmed — so typing someone else's address at signup cannot pull in their purchase.

Do credits expire? No. Credits never expire. The one time limit is the First Video's credit toward a Full Video, which runs for 14 days.

Can I get a refund? Yes. Refunding a purchase returns the credits it granted. If you want a video regenerated rather than refunded, say so — every paid tier includes regenerations, and if you wouldn't post it we'd rather fix it.
