    NewRolling out

    Lyric formats#

Lyric formats (word-by-word karaoke, line reveal, bold centre) and styles taken from videos with on-screen text now burn your song's lyrics into the finished video. They use the format's colours and position, sized to your video's shape. Songs with no vocals skip the captions, and nothing extra is charged.

The captions have not yet been checked against a hand-typed transcript, so this stays off in production until they are.

    New

    Style from a video#

The composer's + menu has "Style from a video". Paste a YouTube link or upload a video (MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 250 MB). We watch it once, work out its style recipe (the cut rhythm, transitions, light, colour palette, shots and hook) and fill in your brief from it.

Then we direct a brand-new video for your song; the footage, the people and the music in the reference aren't used. Before you send, you can switch off any part of the recipe you don't want. A song plus a style is enough: you don't have to type anything. You can analyse 10 videos a day, and your past styles are kept under Formats → Yours. TikTok and Instagram links can't be opened; save the video and upload it instead.

    New

    Start from a format#

The dashboard shows a row of ready-made music-video formats above the composer, such as Neon flash-cut, Golden-hour performance, POV story, Album-art loop and Velocity cut-up. Each card shows three example stills plus its shape and pace. Press "Use this format", send your song, and the brief fills in the look, the feeling, the places and the shape from the format, then asks only what the format can't answer.

Anything you type still wins. The concept and the storyboard follow the format's light, colour, shot mix and pace, set to your song's own tempo.

    New

    A page for every format#

"Formats" in the sidebar, and "Browse all" under the dashboard's formats or in the + menu, open a Formats page with every format under the same tabs (Trending this week, Formats, Yours). "Use this format" takes you back to the dashboard with it already chosen in the composer. In the composer, ⌘I (Ctrl+I on Windows) now opens "Upload photos", as ⌘U opens "Upload a song".

    New

Tell us who you are, and book a pilot#

Your next visit to the dashboard asks one quick question screen: what best describes you (artist, manager, label, agency or production company, distributor, other), your artist or company name, how you heard about us (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Google search, ChatGPT or another AI, a friend, an email from us, somewhere else), and whether you'd like to talk to us about a pilot. Managers, labels, agencies and distributors are also asked how many releases they put out a month. Your role and how you heard about us are required; it's shown once, until you've answered.

Labels, agencies, distributors, busier managers and anyone who asks to talk see a "Book a pilot" card on the dashboard that opens a 30-minute call booking.

    New

    Lip sync#

When your song has vocals, the brief offers a lip-sync switch and asks who sings: the artist, the subject of your idea (a dog can sing) or someone you describe. Singing shots are marked on the storyboard with the line they sing, up to four per video, and you can move or turn off each mark. "Test this line" renders one singing shot first so you can check it before paying for the whole video, and that clip is reused in the full render instead of being charged twice.

Same price with lip sync on or off.

    New

Your brief and concept are free#

Anyone with a confirmed email can open the studio, attach a song, write a brief, answer the follow-ups, press "Decide for me", and read and revise the concept without paying. Payment starts at "Draw keyframes": pressing it shows the First Video and Full Video packs right there on the board, and after checkout you come back to the same project, at the same step. Free use has fair limits: 3 free projects per account, and in each one 3 follow-up rounds, 3 concept writes and 2 shot lists.

Hitting a limit shows a plain message saying what to do next.

    Improved

    Briefs stay focused#

A brief now asks at most three rounds of follow-up questions after the first. After that, "Ask me follow-up questions" is replaced by "Decide for me" and "Submit brief", which were always there.

    Improved

    Sign-ups need a real email address#

Throwaway email addresses (Mailinator, YOPmail and the like) are now refused when the account is created, not only on the sign-up page, with a message asking for a real address. Anyone who has already paid is never refused.

    Improved

Vertical videos are made vertical, never cropped#

The brief now asks "Where's it going?": Landscape 16:9 (YouTube) or Vertical 9:16 (TikTok, Reels, Shorts), picked for you from your template. Your keyframes, clips, rough cut and final video are all made in that shape, so nothing is cut off the sides and your lyrics always fit the frame. The shape locks once your first keyframe is drawn.

The old 9:16 and square "crop" downloads are gone (square is no longer offered), and the Spotify Canvas now comes only from a vertical video. Want the other shape? "Make a vertical version" starts a new video from the same brief. Projects made before this keep their files.

    Improved

Videos look shot on film, not generated#

Every keyframe is now described the way a cinematographer would: a real film stock, fine grain, soft halation, natural skin texture and natural colour, instead of words like "crisp HD" and "pristine" that gave stills a glossy AI look. A quick check after the storyboard is written fixes impossible details (sand pouring off DJ decks, rain indoors) and favours shots video models draw well: one or two people in medium shots and close-ups, simple camera moves, fewer wide crowd shots. Ask for an era ("90s", "70s disco") and the gear, clothes and film look of that time are spelled out.

The finished video gets a 35mm film finish (subtle grain, lifted blacks, warm grade, light halation, slight vignette); a 90s VHS finish and a clean finish exist too, with a picker to follow.

    Improved

Hear the part of the song you pick#

"Which part?" in the brief's length question is now your song's waveform with the chosen length drawn as a box on it, and the song's sections marked above. Drag the box, tap where it should start, or use the arrow keys (Shift moves 5 seconds). It snaps to a section when you let go close to one.

Press play to hear exactly that part, start to finish. Full song shows the whole waveform and plays from the top. If the song can't be loaded, the section picker from before is shown instead.

    Improved

Projects name themselves from the brief#

A new project no longer stays "Untitled Project". When your brief is made, it gets a short title taken from your own words and your song, like "Dog Dancing in a Tree". The title shows in the workspace header, the sidebar and "Pick up where you left off" without a reload.

A name you set yourself is never replaced, and rewriting the brief doesn't rename the project.

    Improved

See a real video made with each template#

Every template card on the dashboard and the Templates page now shows a 30-second example that Melodious made with that template, marked "Made with Melodious". Hover over a card to play it (muted, looping); on a phone, tap the play button. With reduced motion switched on, you see a still frame instead.

A trending template's original YouTube video is still one tap away through the small "Inspired by …" link. Templates without an example yet show their stills as before.

    Improved

    Formats are now called templates#

Everything you see says "template": "Start from a template" on the dashboard and in the + menu, "Use this template", "Browse all templates", the Templates tabs and page, and the sidebar link. The page now lives at /templates. Old /formats links redirect there, and old dashboard links still work.

    Improved

Formats now steer the whole film, not just the words#

A format's palette and light now set the concept's style, which is then locked across every keyframe. Its shot mix shapes the shot cards, its cut rhythm shapes how the edit cuts to the beat, and its hook picks the opening shot. Colours are always named ("hot magenta", "electric cyan") and never written as colour codes in what the image model sees.

Your own answers still win, and a video without a format is made exactly as before.

    Improved

    Three thumbnails with every video#

The finished screen has a Thumbnails row: three frames taken from the middle of your video's hook, signature and set-piece scenes (evenly spaced frames for older storyboards). Each downloads in your video's own shape: 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Shorts, TikTok and Reels covers. Upload all three to YouTube's thumbnail test and keep the winner.

    Improved

    Choose your video's length first#

The brief's first question is now "How long should the video be?": 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds or the full song (lengths your song can't fill are hidden, and a song of 20 seconds or less is always the full song). Pick a shorter length and choose which part of the song it covers; it starts at your first chorus. The concept, the storyboard, the keyframes you pay for, the rough cut and the render then cover only that part, so you never pay to draw scenes you won't render, and the render screen opens on your chosen length.

"Decide for me" picks 30 seconds for songs over 45 seconds, otherwise the full song. Projects started before this keep the whole song.

    Improved

The brief only asks, you decide#

The brief no longer says what the director pictures or marks a "my pick". It asks the few clarifying questions that would change your video (who or what is on screen and how they look, the place, the camera, light and colour, what happens on the beat, the story), every option is a plain choice, and nothing is selected until you choose. "A dog dancing in a tree" is asked what the dog looks like and what kind of tree it is.

Where your own photo fits (a character, a place, a look), "Use one of my assets" lets you pick one you've saved, or upload a new one. "Decide for me" now leaves whatever you skipped for the director to choose.

    Improved

    "Treatment" is now "Concept"#

The step between your brief and the storyboard (the logline, one beat per section and the key decisions) is called the concept everywhere you see it: the checklist, the panel, its messages and the director's replies.

    Fixed

You can always build your concept#

After the fifth revision the Build button disappeared along with Revise, which left you unable to move on to the storyboard. Build now stays; only Revise makes way for the option to rewrite your vision.

    Fixed

The render screen says why it cannot price a render#

When the only drawn shots are lines you already rendered in a test, it now tells you to draw the other shots, instead of asking you to close and try again.

    Fixed

Every song is planned against its real structure#

A saved song whose analysis had been stored empty (a length, but no sections and no tempo) was reused as-is forever, so its storyboard was planned against even 20-second "Part 1, Part 2…" slices instead of the song's actual verses and choruses. A stored analysis is now only reused when it is complete; otherwise the song is re-analysed from its own audio (or, for the demo tracks, given the analysis that ships with the app) before anything is planned. Briefs that were built on a broken analysis pick up the real one the next time they're opened, as long as no keyframes have been drawn yet.

The analyser itself can no longer hand back a song with no sections, and in the + menu a demo is no longer hidden behind a broken saved copy with the same name.

    Fixed

    Formats behave as chosen#

Performance formats no longer add karaoke captions you didn't ask for, and title cards or credits in a reference video are no longer read as lyrics. The format gallery loads only public formats and your own, newest first. Video analysis retries once when Google has a hiccup, and gives up cleanly within four minutes instead of looking failed and then turning up later.

    Fixed

The render price you see is the price you pay#

The "Render your video" screen now shows the exact number of credits the render will charge, worked out by our servers for the exact scenes you're rendering. It used to show an estimate that could be off (600 shown, 589 charged). While the price loads it says "Pricing…" and the buttons wait, and it prices again whenever you change the length or quality.

    Fixed

Your pack's included render is only used on your whole video#

A render uses the render that came with your First Video or Full Video pack only when every scene of your chosen length has a keyframe. Before, rendering a partly drawn storyboard (for example 1 of 4 scenes, 6 seconds) used up the render you paid for as a 30-second video. Now a partial render is paid from your spare credits and your included render is kept for the full video.

If your spare credits don't cover it, the render screen says "Draw the remaining N shots to use your included render" instead.

  2. v0.29.0

    Improved

The brief asks about YOUR video, not a fixed list#

The director now reads your words, your song and your photos and writes the brief's questions itself: a sentence saying what it pictures (tap any part to change it), then only the few calls that would change this video, each with the right kind of answer (cards, chips, your own photos, or your song's sections) and its own pick already selected. "A dog dancing in a tree" is asked what kind of dog and how it dances, never "who's on screen". "Ask me follow-up questions" gets another round built on your answers, "Decide for me" takes the director's picks, and everything stays optional and free.

    Improved

Use your saved characters, places and looks from the prompt box#

The + menu now has a "From your assets" section showing your saved characters, places and looks as thumbnails (with "Browse all" and a search once you have more than six of one kind), and typing @ in the prompt box opens the same picker inline. A picked asset appears beside your photos with its role, fills the brief's cast, locations or look, and is never uploaded a second time.

  3. v0.28.0

    Improved

    A new homepage#

Real music videos play behind a new headline, "Your song, directed.", with a prompt box to start from. A new "How it works" section walks through the three steps using one real storyboard, and the community gallery and an artist review are back. The price now only appears in the pricing section.

    Improved

The brief asks only what it can't work out, in plain words#

The brief panel now reads like a director's form: your own words quoted back (with a Rewrite link), a line saying what it took from them, small cards for everything it already filled (tap one to change it), then only the open questions, each written for your project ("Who is she, exactly?", "Where does it happen?") with picture tiles, an "Upload a face" / "Upload a place" slot, and a box to describe it in your own words instead. Places can be picked in order, and the header counts the questions left. The director says what it heard in the track and read in your words on the left.

You can still submit with nothing answered, and it's still free.

    Improved

A new way to start a video: one prompt box#

The dashboard is now a single box with a + on the left and a send button on the right. Send stays off until you add a song, and says so. + adds a song (upload, a demo, or one you saved) and character, location and look photos. Your song sits above the box as a player you can scrub, with its sections as chips that jump straight to that part.

The photos you add now carry into the project: the brief opens with them already filled in as your cast, locations and look.

  4. v0.27.2

    Fixed

Reopening a project no longer pops a scene window at you#

If you left a scene open and came back later, that scene's window reopened by itself, with its Regenerate button sitting there. It now takes you back to the scene you were on without opening anything.

  5. v0.27.1

    Fixed

    Video generation is working again#

We fixed a problem that stopped new videos from being made. No work was lost. If you were affected, reply to any Melodious email and we'll make it right.

    Fixed

    Your saved assets load reliably#

Your saved characters, looks and places now load every time you open a project.

  6. v0.27.0

    Improved

The Assets page now opens on Characters, Looks and Locations, including a shared stock library#

Characters, Looks and Locations come first, with your own assets ahead of a shared stock library you can use in any project. Props, music, keyframes, clips and videos sit below. The brief draws on the same library, and a second project offers your previous cast back in one tap.

    Improved

The rough cut now exports as a free watermarked MP4#

Export your rough cut as a free MP4 set to your track, with gentle push-ins, soft crossfades between sections and a small Made with Melodious watermark. Fill everything draws any missing shots in one go, at a price shown first.

    Improved

Clicking a board card now opens its shot inspector#

Each keyframe card opens an inspector where you can edit the shot's prompt, type and duration for free, attach a reference photo, restore earlier versions for free, and reroll the shot at the price shown on the button.

    Improved

The projects page now shows your work, not a list of identical names#

Each project carries the first keyframe generated for it as a 16:9 thumbnail, a state pill (Rendered / Storyboard / Draft) with matching filter chips, and a name derived from the track or your first prompt, so seven projects can never again all be called the same thing.

    Improved

The director now answers inside the panel you're on#

The director now knows which step you are on (brief, board, rough cut, rendering or finished) and answers for that step. Vague edits get a question back instead of a guess, it never spends credits without your go ahead, and error codes never reach the chat.

    Improved

The rough cut now plays against your own track#

The rough cut plays in time with your song, with a gentle push-in on every shot and a snap on the beat. You can scrub through it, and keyframes that finish while it plays join the cut without restarting it.

    Improved

Your pack's render is set aside the moment you buy it#

The render your pack includes is set aside the moment you buy it, so spending on keyframes can never use it up.

    Improved

Every credit refusal now names the exact number and the next step#

When you do not have enough credits for something, you now see what it costs, what is spare, what is held for your render and what to do next. The render a pack includes can never be spent on images.

    Improved

Your finished video now ends on a proper download screen#

When a render completes you get your video with Download front and centre, a share link, the vertical cut, how long your First Video credit has left, and a "Start the next one" button that carries your cast and look into a new project.

    Improved

The storyboard is now a sampled board, not a list#

Planned shots appear as cards with their real price, failed shots offer a free retry, and changed shots are highlighted. A timeline marks every shot, and the footer shows live counts and your spare credits. The first keyframes drawn are chosen to fit the credits you have spare.

    Improved

Render shows what your purchase covers#

Pressing Render shows exactly what your purchase covers, and the price of anything it doesn't.

    Improved

The billing page now shows what your credits are for#

Pack buyers see a three-part bar (spent on images, reserved for the render already paid for, spare to change things with) so the render a pack bought is visibly never spent on images. When the spare drops below 24 credits the pack banner turns amber with the upgrade.

    Improved

    A new project workspace#

Opening a project lands in one workspace, with the director beside your brief and board and your project stats and balance in the header. Everything loads at once instead of rebuilding each view.

    Fixed

Changing your storyboard no longer doubles the price of your video#

When you changed a scene, the old storyboard was not cleared away, so the price to finish your video could double. The storyboard you are looking at is now the only one that counts, on existing projects as well as new ones.

    Fixed

The credit figure on the button is the figure we charge#

The estimate shown before you generate now matches the charge exactly.

    Fixed

The reference photo you attach now actually shapes your keyframes#

Your cast, look and location photos now shape every keyframe, not just their descriptions. The checklist only ticks "character locked" when a photo is really attached.

    Fixed

Every control in the shot inspector works#

Edit a shot's prompt, type or length, delete or duplicate it, attach a reference, and restore any earlier version for free. If something fails, it tells you.

    Fixed

Your paid render stays safe if we can't read your balance#

If we cannot read your balance for a moment, nothing is spent and nothing is charged. You are told plainly and can simply try again.

    Fixed

A keyframe you generate now appears on its own card, without a reload#

New keyframes appear on their card the moment they're ready, with no reload.

    Fixed

Your song carries into your project#

The song you pick on the dashboard now carries into your project, so Submit brief works first time and survives a refresh.

    Fixed

The board's own cards now show their keyframes too#

A shot marked ready now shows its keyframe on the board instead of an empty frame.

    Fixed

The rough cut plays your track, and keyframes stop rendering as broken images#

The rough cut now plays your song, and keyframe thumbnails on the board, in the player and on the render screen load properly. A project with no track says so plainly instead of showing a play button that does nothing.

    Fixed

Build now builds your storyboard, and the rough cut is reachable#

Pressing Build now plans your whole track for free, and the board fills in as shots land and again as each keyframe is drawn. If planning fails, the reason shows next to the button, and the rough cut opens as soon as one keyframe is ready.

    Fixed

    New projects open reliably#

New projects open reliably, and the idea you typed on the dashboard is already in the box.

    Fixed

Generated keyframes now actually appear on the board#

Every keyframe you generate now lands on its shot: on the board, in the rough cut and on your projects page.

    Fixed

Describing the cast, look or locations in your own words no longer fails#

The cast, look and location questions in the brief now accept your own words, and what you typed shows back in the panel.

    Fixed

Dead sessions and runs now say so instead of spinning forever#

If a project or run can no longer be reached, the app now stops and says so with a way to recover, instead of spinning forever. Brief hiccups retry quietly. The billing page shows a clear "balance unavailable" message with a retry, never a made up zero.

    Fixed

The Full Video you paid for is now the length you paid for#

Buying a video pack gave you the credits but not the lengths: every option above 30 seconds still asked you to upgrade to a subscription you didn't need. Duration now follows your credit balance, so a Full Video purchase unlocks the full four minutes.

  7. v0.25.1

    Improved

    Start with a $19 first video#

The homepage's main button now goes straight to checkout.

    Fixed

Buying with an email address you already have an account for now works#

Buying with the email address of an existing account now works, and if a purchase belongs to a different account we tell you which one.

    Fixed

Your First Video has no watermark#

One-time purchases now render without a watermark, as promised.

  8. v0.25.0

    New

New accounts start at the checkout page (/start) rather than the studio#

    Improved

Your first Melodious video is now $19#

A finished 30-second clip, no watermark, credited in full toward a full-length video for 14 days. Full videos are $97 per release. There is no free tier: nothing renders before a payment.

    Improved

You can now buy without making an account first#

The buy buttons go straight to checkout, and you choose how to sign in after you've paid, with your credits already waiting. If you close the tab, the confirmation email brings you back, and signing up later with the same address finds your purchase automatically.

    Improved

The Pro overlay tells you when there's nothing to add#

If your song has no readable lyrics or you haven't set up artist branding, it now says so instead of returning an unchanged video.

    Fixed

The audio visualizer's download is now named for the file you actually got#

Safari records MP4 rather than WebM, but every download was named .webm regardless, so the one browser that produced the more compatible file was the one that labelled it wrongly. Its FAQ also claimed converting WebM to MP4 for TikTok and Reels "costs no quality"; it is a real re-encode, and the page now says so.

    Fixed

Blog article images no longer have the headline printed across them#

On the article index the cards crop the image, which sliced that text mid-word: "Solo artist vs. Band" showed up as "lo artist / band". All 35 hero images are regenerated clean, and they load slightly faster than before.

    Fixed

Reloading the page while your first storyboard was being created no longer starts a second one#

It used to start planning your video a second time.

    Fixed

Long renders no longer drop at five minutes#

Render progress now reaches your browser directly, and reloading mid-render picks up where it left off.

  9. v0.24.0

    New

Added an interactive Camelot wheel at /tools/camelot-wheel#

Click any key to see what mixes with it, or drop a track in and it finds the key for you and selects it. Runs entirely in your browser.

  10. v0.23.0

    New

Added a free audio visualizer at /tools/audio-visualizer#

Three styles, downloadable video with audio, no watermark and no upload. It also says plainly where a visualizer stops being the right tool, which is the honest version of a page we could have oversold.

    New

Added a free BPM + key finder at /tools/bpm-key-finder#

Both readings from one pass, each rated separately, because a track can have a rock-solid tempo and an ambiguous key.

    New

Added a free tap tempo tool at /tools/tap-tempo#

Tap along and read the BPM off your taps, for when there is no file to analyse: a record playing in the room, a rehearsal, a song in your head.

    New

    Added three free name generators#

/tools/band-name-generator, /tools/rapper-name-generator and /tools/song-title-generator. Genre-filtered, unlimited, no account, and each carries the practical part people actually need: how to check a band or rap name is genuinely free to use, and why a song title that already exists is usually fine to reuse.

    New

The prompt box says what to do, and shows you what's possible#

It now reads "Describe your music video" and cycles through real examples (a rooftop performance, a story about leaving home, big lyrics over slow-motion streets, abstract colour moving with the beat) so the question "what am I even allowed to ask for?" answers itself. The old hints typed themselves out one letter at a time, so most of the time the box showed half a word, and all three said the same kind of thing in the same voice.

    New

Play your track before you build anything#

Picking a song now gives you a real waveform you can press play on, click anywhere to scrub, and arrow-key through, so "is this the right track?" is answered in two seconds instead of after a storyboard. The shape is decoded from your actual audio, not drawn from the file name.

    New

The scene planner now uses everything you chose#

Your aspect ratio becomes real framing instructions, your characters and style references are named as things scenes must be built around, your director is applied, and a lyric or lip-sync video gets scenes composed for it, clean space for words, or performers with visible faces.

    New

It tells you what it is doing while it builds#

"Planning 5 shots for 30s…" rather than one unchanging line for half a minute.

    Fixed

    The app is dramatically faster#

Checking on a running project now takes a fraction of the time it used to, and the cost shown before you submit appears straight away.

    Fixed

    Editing a scene works again#

Regenerating an image failed with "This scene isn't part of a video on your account" on projects you own. Scene edits now work on every project you own, however you opened it.

    Fixed

Your storyboard is about what you asked for#

Type "a dog in a tree" and every scene now has a dog in it. Before, your description was the last line handed to the planner (after a full dump of the song's analysis, under an instruction to follow the song's structure) so it wrote a storyboard about the song instead: on the track we tested with, five scenes, no dog, and two scenes titled with lyrics from the song.

    Fixed

"Creating your storyboard…" stops when the storyboard is done#

If the live connection dropped, the app had no other way to learn what stage your project had reached, so it kept showing the building message over a storyboard that had finished minutes earlier. It now checks directly as well.

    Fixed

Songs in your library can be analysed#

Analysing a song saved in your library now works.

    Fixed

Lyric video is offered for songs that have vocals#

Attaching a song now takes about a second. We check for vocals straight away and transcribe the words a moment later, when they are needed, so lyric video is offered whenever your song has vocals.

    Fixed

Songs with an off-round tempo no longer lose their whole analysis#

A track whose tempo came back as a decimal, like 114.8 BPM, used to lose its whole analysis: no tempo, no sections and no lyrics. Every tempo now keeps its full analysis.

    Fixed

The demo tracks are ready the instant you pick one#

They were being analysed from scratch on every single click, by every user, for a set of three songs that never change. Their analysis now ships with the app.

    Fixed

Removed the "Try a demo" button#

It scrolled to the demo tracks that were already on screen directly below it, so pressing it did nothing visible.

    Fixed

The demo track chips work on phones#

The play button was invisible until you hovered, which never happens on a touchscreen, so tapping the icon started a silent preview instead of picking the song. The preview is gone; tapping a chip picks the track.

  11. v0.22.0

    New

The storyboard panel shows one thing at a time#

When your video is ready it now takes the top of the panel and the storyboard folds down to a single line you can open, instead of the finished video sitting at the very bottom under everything that made it. The waveform shrinks to a slim ruler at that point too, since the video has its own player.

    New

The create screen leads with what it does#

"Turn your song into a music video. Drop a track. We read it and decide the rest.", and the add-a-character button now sits inside the description box, where attachments belong, so the settings underneath stay on one line however many characters you add.

    Fixed

Your storyboard opens again when you come back to a project#

If you reloaded the page, or opened a project from the sidebar, the storyboard panel never appeared. Your storyboard and every image were safe the whole time, and the panel now opens again.

    Fixed

A finished video no longer says "Creating your storyboard…"#

Once your storyboard was made and the video was rendering, the chat went back to claiming it was still building the storyboard (with a live pulse) and kept saying it after the video had finished. It said the same thing when a run had failed outright, so a broken render looked like cheerful progress.

  12. v0.21.0

    New

The create screen only asks you two things now#

Before you add a song it shows one thing (where to put the song) instead of fifteen controls, six of which couldn't hold a value yet because every one of them is worked out from your track. The rest appear once there is something to work them out from. The "Upload Song → Describe Vision → Watch It Generate" strip is gone with them; it was a diagram of the screen you were already looking at.

    New

"Music video or lyric video" is a one-tap choice on the create screen#

Both options are always visible, so you can see we make lyric videos without opening anything. On a track with no singing the lyric option greys out and says why on screen, rather than quietly disappearing.

    New

The shape of your video is one menu, labelled by where it is going#

"TikTok · Reels · Shorts" rather than "9:16", instead of three ratios competing for attention. It is the only setting your song cannot decide for you.

    Fixed

Fixed the BPM confidence score, which could only ever return 1.0#

So the BPM finder claimed "high confidence" on every file, including audio with no beat, on a page whose whole promise is flagging a guess as a guess.

    Fixed

The storyboard stopped offering to change things you had already made#

The output type and intro/outro panels sat under your storyboard and never went away, so a finished video still invited you to change what kind of video it was, and because nothing checked the track for singing, an instrumental was offered three lyric styles to pick between. The output type is asked once now, on the create screen, before you spend anything. Intro & outro is hidden until it can live where it belongs: beside the finished video, not underneath a storyboard.

  13. v0.20.0

    New

Added a free song key finder at /tools/song-key-finder#

Chroma + Krumhansl-Schmuckler key detection running entirely in the browser, which tells you when the runner-up is the relative major/minor instead of sounding certain.

    New

Added /tools/tempo-finder with the Italian tempo markings and typical BPM ranges by genre#

    New

A page that lists the free tools#

All the free tools now live on one page at /tools, and "Free tools" is in the main navigation, one click from the homepage.

    New

A free BPM finder at /tools/bpm-finder#

Drop in a track and get its tempo, no signup, no upload, no limit. The analysis runs entirely in your browser, so the file never leaves your device and it works offline. It tells you how confident the reading is rather than presenting a guess as a fact, and explains the half/double-tempo ambiguity when it bites.

    New

The create screen now shows you what it decided, before you spend anything#

Attach a song and it reads the track, then fills in every setting for you (length, aspect, cut speed, director and quality) and shows its reasoning where it helps ("Fast cuts, from 128 BPM"). You can change any of them, or change none. The song sits at the top with its length, tempo and whether it has vocals, so you can see the track was actually listened to.

Lyric video is now a one-tap choice there instead of a panel you had to find by accident, and it only appears when your track has vocals. The button says "Create storyboard" rather than a send arrow that could have meant anything.

    New

Reference images can say what they are#

Add a photo as a Character, a Style or a Location instead of an untagged image the director has to guess about. If you try to cast a fifth character, it says so on the spot.

    New

You watch your storyboard being built, instead of waiting for it#

Pressing "Create storyboard" goes straight to the two-panel view with the storyboard already open on the right. Every scene appears immediately as an empty cell with its real timecode (we know the cut points from your track before a single image exists) and each one fills in as its frame arrives. The chat keeps one line telling you what is happening now: "Planning the shots…", then "Rendering frames · 3 of 7".

    Fixed

The project list in the sidebar scrolls again#

It had been growing past the bottom of the window instead of scrolling inside its own panel, so with a long history roughly thirty projects were rendered off the screen with no way to reach them, and the ones just above overlapped the Credits and Log out rows.

    Fixed

"Create storyboard" works on the first click#

With the reference picker open, the first click closed the panel and the button jumped up the page before the click landed, so nothing happened, and it worked on the second try. The picker now floats above the form instead of pushing it around.

    Fixed

The BPM finder had no way into the app#

Its only button went back to the homepage. Every tool and comparison page now offers a direct way into the app.

    Fixed

Comparison pages had the same broken breadcrumb#

/vs/kaiber and /vs/neural-frames both pointed at a /vs index that has never existed. The crumb is gone rather than faked.

    Fixed

Your storyboard opens itself, and does it from the start#

When generation finished you were left looking at a chat log and a small grey card reading "Storyboard: 7 scenes"; the images you had just paid for were behind that click, and nothing suggested the card held pictures. The storyboard panel now opens the moment you press the button, so you see the whole thing being made rather than only the finished result.

    Fixed

The re-analysis steps are really gone#

"Analyzing audio" and "Extracting lyrics" could still appear after pressing Create, as ticked-off steps, and again whenever you reopened the project. Your song is now read once, on the create screen, and those steps no longer describe anything that is still happening.

    Fixed

The cut-speed label no longer disagrees with the video#

A track at 119 BPM was labelled "Balanced" on screen and cut fast in the actual storyboard, because the screen and the director used different tempo thresholds.

    Fixed

A song is uploaded and read once, not twice#

Picking a track on the create screen and then continuing into the project analysed the same song a second time.

  14. v0.19.2

    Fixed

New accounts can actually start a video again#

Every length option on the "How long should your video be?" step was locked (the 30-second Clip showed "Not enough credits" and the Next button did nothing) so a signed-up, verified account had no way forward at all. The step was checking whether you could afford the finished video before letting you pick a length, rather than the storyboard you were about to make. It now checks the storyboard, so the Clip is selectable; paying is still required to render the video.

  15. v0.19.1

    Fixed

Being asked to pay for a video no longer looks like an error#

When an account without a purchase tried to render, the request came back as a generic server error instead of the upgrade prompt, so the message never reached the part of the app that shows the offer. The refusal now arrives correctly and explains that the render is what you're buying.

  16. v0.19.0

    New

New accounts can build a storyboard again#

Signing up now grants 70 credits, enough to turn your song into a full set of keyframes and see what your video would look like before deciding to make it.

    Changed

Rendering the video now requires a purchase, and says so#

The video render is the part you buy, and an unpaid account now sees a clear prompt to buy instead of a generic "insufficient credits" message. Anyone who has bought a credit pack or holds a subscription can render; a one-time pack purchase is enough.

    Changed

    1080p and 4K are now Pro features#

The resolution picker now offers 1080p and 4K to Pro accounts.

  17. v0.18.0

    New

Your storyboard and first images now appear straight away#

Attach a song, say what you want to see, and Melodious writes the storyboard and starts generating the keyframes immediately, no interview questions, no length picker, and no approving a wall of text before you get to see anything. It reads the song's tempo and sections and makes those calls for you. The credit cost is stated under the box before you send, so pressing send is the decision; the storyboard stays fully editable afterwards, and generating the video still has its own separate approval step.

  18. v0.17.2

Behind-the-scenes work on reliability and tooling.

  19. v0.17.1

Behind-the-scenes work on reliability and tooling.

  20. v0.17.0

    New

Your projects are reachable on a phone#

Opening the menu on mobile now lists your previous projects, so you can jump back into anything you've started. Before, there was no way to reach them from a phone: the menu only had "New Project", "Home" and "Assets". The full list is there now, with "Show all" when there are more than a few.

    Improved

The desktop project list is no longer cut off at 8#

It shows everything you've made and scrolls within the sidebar.

    Improved

The box you type in grows as you write#

Both the "what should we create" box and the in-project chat box now expand as your text gets longer instead of trapping it in a small window. On the create screen your text also wraps properly; a long description used to run off the side of the box where you couldn't see it.

    Improved

    Long messages wrap in chat#

A long link or a long unbroken line used to run off the right edge of the message instead of wrapping onto the next line.

  21. v0.16.0

    New

A guide for turning a Suno song into a music video#

A new page walks through the whole workflow: export your track, upload it, let the director storyboard it against the song's real sections, then edit and render. There is no integration with Suno, just the audio file you download, so the same route works for any finished track.

  22. v0.15.1

    Fixed

The Create page wouldn't scroll on a phone#

On mobile, the "What should we create?" screen was frozen: the heading sat cut in half behind the top bar and the page wouldn't move up or down, so the song picker and prompt box below were unreachable. It scrolls properly now.

    Fixed

    A failed sign-in no longer dead-ends on the homepage#

If signing in with Google didn't complete (an expired link, a reloaded tab, a tap of Back), you were dropped on the homepage still logged out, with a cryptic error in the address bar and nothing telling you what happened. You now get a plain-language message and a button to sign in again, and the error clears itself from the URL.

  23. v0.15.0

    New

    A lyric video maker page#

A new page for anyone looking for a lyric video tool. The words are timed from the vocal in your own song and aligned to the lyrics you confirm, over AI-generated scenes planned against the track's real structure.

    Fixed

The public pages are properly usable on a phone#

Comparison tables no longer get cut off on a phone, small controls are now easy to tap, and the homepage is shorter to scroll.

  24. v0.14.0

    New

Melodious now works properly on a phone#

The studio used to load its desktop layout on mobile, which the browser shrank to fit: everything was tiny, and there was no way to reach Projects, Assets or New Project. The studio now has a proper mobile layout, with a bottom bar to switch between the chat and your storyboard, a slide-out menu, and full-screen storyboard and dialogs sized for a phone. Buttons are big enough to tap, including the per-scene controls that used to appear only on hover, and iPads in portrait get the same treatment.

You can also add Melodious to your home screen and launch it like an app.

  25. v0.13.0

Behind-the-scenes work on reliability and tooling.

  26. v0.12.0

    New

Tell us why, right after you vote#

Tapping 👍 or 👎 on an assistant message now opens a small optional prompt, "what made this good?" or "what went wrong?", with room for a note and a screenshot. Your vote is saved the instant you tap, and skipping the prompt loses nothing.

    Fixed

Starting a new project no longer says "your session expired"#

Starting a second project soon after another could fail straight away with "Your session expired". It now starts normally, and if a conversation ever hits a technical problem, the message says plainly that the problem is on our side and your credits are safe.

    Fixed

Lyric captions can no longer pile up on top of each other#

When word-alignment quality degraded mid-render (patchy vocal transcription, or model timestamps that didn't even fit inside the song), several lyric lines could land in the same moment of the video and stack into an unreadable heap. Caption timing is now forced to be strictly sequential (one line on screen at a time, with any line squeezed below half a second dropped) so a degraded render loses a line at worst instead of becoming illegible.

    Fixed

The app no longer slides off-screen behind a black band#

After certain errors the whole workspace could shift up, leaving your chat and storyboard cut off behind a black band. The workspace is now pinned in place, and a failed video shows a short, clear reason in the chat.

    Fixed

Free regens are actually free now#

Keyframe regens and retries of scenes that failed on our side are free, as advertised, and the free clip regens under the Proud-to-Post guarantee now apply. Regenerating a clip because you want a different take is still charged.

    Fixed

You can retry again when only some scenes fail#

If a render finished with a few scenes failed and the rest fine, the workspace kept spinning on "Generating Scene…" forever and every retry button disappeared, leaving no way to fix the failed scenes short of starting the whole video over. The app now recognises a partly-finished render as finished: the spinner clears, the failed scenes are marked with a Retry button, and the storyboard shows a "retry failed scenes" banner.

    Fixed

You're only charged for the scenes you actually get#

If some scenes in a render fail, you now pay only for the scenes that were delivered, and the rest goes straight back to your balance, ready for a retry. Retrying costs only the failed scenes.

    Fixed

The assistant can no longer tell you your video is ready when it isn't#

The assistant now checks a finished video exists before saying so, and tells you the real next step.

    Fixed

The share prompt appears when your video is ready#

The share prompt now appears once every time a video finishes.

  27. v0.11.0

    New

Share your video the moment it's ready#

When a render finishes, a share prompt pops up with a copyable public link, one-tap posting to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and your referral link: invite a friend and you both get bonus credits. It sits alongside the download button, and you can dismiss it.

  28. v0.10.0

    New

Five new guides on the blog#

New posts on music video sizes and aspect ratios, whether you need an EPK video, how to promote your music with a video, building an artist persona, and vertical versus horizontal. Every post now links to related guides.

    Fixed

Pro lyric overlay now stays in sync#

Lyrics burned onto a Pro video now land on the beat, matching Lyric Video mode.

    Fixed

Setup pickers survive a page reload#

The duration, pacing, aspect-ratio and resolution cards are shown one at a time, and reloading the page mid-sequence used to lose the cards not yet shown, so answering the visible one did nothing. Your choices now persist with the project, so a reload picks up right where you left off.

  29. v0.9.0

    New

Creator handles and avatars on the community showcase#

Choose a handle and avatar in your profile and your showcase videos can carry your name. Nothing is shown unless you set one.

    New

Generate an asset, don't just upload one#

The assets library's Add asset box now has a Browse and Generate toggle. Describe the character, prop, style or location you want and Melodious creates the image, optionally from a reference photo. The price shows before you generate, and the image saves straight to your library, ready to @mention.

    New

    In-app feedback with screenshots#

The "Help & Feedback" button now opens a lightweight in-app box where you can type what's working or broken and drag-drop, paste, or attach screenshots, no more bouncing out to an off-site form. Feedback lands with us instantly, tied to where you were in the app so we can actually act on it.

    New

    Thumbs up/down on AI messages#

Each response in the chat now has a subtle 👍/👎 so you can flag good or bad answers in one tap (a down-vote lets you optionally add a one-line "what was wrong?"). It helps us tune the AI over time.

  30. v0.8.0

    New

Search, filter & pagination on the blog#

The blog home is now a single-column reading list with a search box, category filter chips (Guides · Compare · Budget · Ideas), and pagination, so the growing library of guides stays easy to browse as it scales.

  31. v0.7.0

    New

Lyric videos with synced on-screen words#

Pick Lyric video in the composer and your song renders with word-synced lyrics over the AI-generated scenes, in one of three styles: Karaoke Highlight, Line Reveal or Bold Center. The words are timed from the vocal in your own song and aligned to your lyrics, which you can correct before rendering. Lyric captions cost nothing extra.

  32. v0.6.0

    NewRolling out

Add intro & outro scenes to your music video#

A new "Add intro & outro" panel under the storyboard lets you generate a YouTube-ready opening title card ("<Presenter> presents" + song title) and a closing credits scene (cover art + your credit lines) right inside the render, no more bolting them on in a separate editor afterwards. Pick a template (Cinematic / Album Reveal), fill in presenter, artist, song title, and credits, and they're spliced onto the final video automatically with proper typography.

  33. v0.5.0

    New

New "MP3 to music video" landing page#

A new page at /tools/mp3-to-video explains how to turn an audio file into an AI music video.

    Fixed

Re-rendering no longer fills your library with copies#

Re-rendering a project now refreshes each scene's card in your assets library instead of adding another copy.

  34. v0.4.5

Behind-the-scenes work on reliability and tooling.

  35. v0.4.4

    New

    Melodious blog#

A public blog at /blog with guides for making AI music videos. First post covers keeping the same character consistent across every scene.

  36. v0.4.3

Behind-the-scenes work on reliability and tooling.

  37. v0.4.2

    New

    "New" badge on Reference asset#

In the composer + menu (both the create and in-project composers), matching Director style, so the @-reference feature is obvious.

  38. v0.4.1

    New

Easier to discover the asset features#

The /dashboard create composer's + menu now includes Reference asset (type @ to pull in a saved character, style, song, etc.) alongside Song / Photos / Director style, and "new" badges now flag Assets (left sidebar) and Director style so the recently shipped features are obvious.

  39. v0.4.0

    New

Director-style persona from the start, and free starter songs in your library#

The creative-director persona (presets like Moody cinematic, Hip-hop or Indie, or a custom brief) can now be chosen from the composer's + menu ("Director style"), not just inside a project, and the choice carries into the new project so its first turn is already steered. Every account also gets the three demo songs (Summertime Groove, Rhythm in the Night, Eternal Light) as free, reusable songs in its library.

    New

The agent now offers to reuse a saved song#

When no song is attached yet, it asks you to either upload a new track or @-mention one already in your library (starter songs or your own), so the @-reference path is discoverable in conversation.

    New

A New Project button, and projects named from your first prompt#

A New Project button now sits at the top of the sidebar, and projects are named from your first prompt as soon as you send it. A name you set yourself is never overwritten.

    New

    Colour-coded @mentions by asset type#

The @ picker and the reference pills in chat now tint each asset by type, so characters, music, styles, locations and the rest are easy to tell apart.

    New

@mention an asset in your very first message#

Typing @ in the composer on the home page now lists your saved assets, so a character, look or song can shape a project from its first message.

    New

Save any frame as an asset#

A bookmark on each generated keyframe saves it to your library as a character, style, location or prop, so you can @mention it to keep a look consistent across scenes and projects.

    New

    @mention a song to set the track#

Songs in your library now appear in the @ menu, and picking one sets the project's track.

  40. v0.3.0

    New

Clearer help when a shot fails#

A failed shot now says why and offers the right next step, such as editing the prompt and retrying. The storyboard flags how many scenes need attention.

    New

    Per-scene regenerate button#

Each shot card has a regenerate button that shows the price first. Other shots are left untouched.

    New

Chat input drag-drop and copy-paste for images and audio#

Drag songs and images onto the chat box, or paste a screenshot straight in.

    New

    A short welcome tour#

Your first visit asks what describes you best and walks you through the four steps from song to video.

    New

    A documentation site at /docs#

    New

3-step "How It Works" visual flow on landing page#

    New

Reference photo thumbnails in storyboard panel#

    Changed

    AI-generated project names#

Projects now get a short AI-written title once the storyboard exists, instead of being named after a reply like "yes".

    Changed

    Landing page features section redesigned#

"From song to screen in minutes" with outcome-focused cards

    Changed

Reference photos work even when added after the storyboard#

    Changed

Run up to five generations at once#

    Fixed

    1080p and 4K really render at 1080p and 4K#

Choosing a higher resolution now renders at that resolution.

    Fixed

    Sticky landing header background#

The sticky marketing header now gains an opaque blurred background and subtle border while scrolling so the logo, navigation, and CTA remain readable over page content on desktop and mobile.

    Fixed

    Pacing now matches its label#

Slow, balanced and fast pacing now each produce the mix of shot lengths they promise, and always fill your chosen length exactly.

    Fixed

WAV uploads work in Safari and some Windows browsers#

Some browsers label WAV files in a way we did not accept, so the upload was rejected. They now upload normally.

    Fixed

Your video is exactly the length you chose#

Pick a length and the finished video runs exactly that long, matching the storyboard.

    Fixed

Large reference photos are resized instead of dropped#

  41. v0.2.1

    New

    AI-generated video titles#

Each showcase video now gets a short descriptive title.

  42. v0.2.0

    New

    Previews right in the chat#

Storyboard, keyframe and video previews appear right in the chat, and open in a side panel with a click.

    New

    Personalised video#

Upload a reference photo to appear in your music video. The AI keeps your likeness across every scene.

    New

    Mobile bottom sheet#

Workspace panel snaps to peek / half / full on mobile

    Changed

Reference image conditioning improved for stronger subject preservation#

    Fixed

"Generating image" label incorrectly shown during video generation#

  43. v0.1.0

    New

Storyboards made in conversation with an AI director#

    New

Song upload with BPM detection, section extraction, and lyrics extraction#

    New

AI keyframe images for every scene#

    New

AI video clips for every scene#

    New

Scenes merged into one video, synced to your song#

    New

Reference image upload for style guidance#

    New

    Community showcase at /showcase#
