How to convert a FLAC to an MP4

To convert FLAC to MP4, load the FLAC above, choose a visual and press Record video. The page plays the file, draws a moving visual onto a canvas as it plays, and your browser records the canvas and the sound together into one video. A download button appears when the track ends. Everything happens on your device, so a private rip or an unreleased master is not sent anywhere.

The recording runs in real time. A browser captures animation as it plays and cannot skip ahead, so the wait equals the length of the track and the tab has to stay open and visible. If you have a long file, trim the section you want in your audio editor first, then load that.

Why a FLAC needs wrapping in a video at all

FLAC is the usual format for a lossless library: CD rips, purchases from stores that sell uncompressed downloads, and masters that musicians keep as a clean copy. It stores sound at full quality in a smaller file than a WAV, and that is all it stores. There is no video track, so YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook will not accept it as a post, even though your computer plays it happily.

The tool adds the missing picture. It draws a visual that moves with the sound and packages it with the audio into a single file. It is not a way of keeping your lossless audio inside a video, and it is not a substitute for sending the FLAC itself to a distributor or a mastering engineer who asked for it.

What you get, and what you do not

You get one video at 1280 by 720 and 30 frames per second, with your track and a bars, waveform or radial visual in one of four colour schemes. The container is MP4 where your browser records MP4, otherwise WebM, and the file name tells you which. There is no watermark, and the only limit is a 100 MB input file.

You do not get lossless audio inside the video, a still cover image under the track, or a vertical frame. The canvas is 16:9. For Reels or TikTok, crop it in an editor afterwards, or choose the radial style, which sits in the middle of the frame and survives a crop. If a single image over the audio is all you need, a basic video editor does that in a minute.

FLAC file size in minutes

The 100 MB limit is easier to plan around in minutes than in megabytes. FLAC compresses to a different size depending on the music: a dense, loud mix compresses less than a sparse acoustic recording. As a rough guide, CD-quality stereo lands somewhere between 4 and 7 MB a minute, which puts the limit at about 14 to 25 minutes of audio. Hi-res 24-bit files are bigger per minute, so check the file size in your file manager before loading it.

When a file is over the limit, the tool says so under the button before it tries anything. Cutting a track to the chorus and verse you want to share is usually the better fix anyway, because a real-time recording of a twenty-minute file would hold your browser tab for twenty minutes.

Next steps for the track

If you have the same song as a WAV bounce, the WAV to MP4 page works the same way, and the M4A to MP4 page covers phone recordings. When the song should have scenes, characters and a story, the AI music video generator turns the same track into a storyboarded video. It is paid, from $19/month, and you see the cost before anything renders.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert FLAC to MP4?

Choose your FLAC file with the button above, pick a style and colours, and press Record video. The tool plays the track, draws a moving visual and records picture and sound into one video. Press Download when the track ends. It records in real time, so a four-minute FLAC takes four minutes.

Is a FLAC file a video format?

No. FLAC is an audio-only format that compresses sound without discarding any of it. It has no picture, which is why video sites will not take it as a post. The job is to wrap the sound in a video file, and the moving visual is what fills the screen.

Does the MP4 keep the lossless quality of my FLAC?

No, and it is better to know that now. Your browser decodes the FLAC and then re-encodes the sound for the video (AAC in an MP4, Opus in a WebM). That is a lossy step. It is fine for sharing and uploading, but the video is not a bit-perfect copy, so keep the FLAC as your archive and treat the video as the shareable version.

Why do I sometimes get a WebM instead of an MP4?

The tool asks your browser for MP4 first. Safari records MP4, and recent versions of Chrome can too. A browser that cannot gives a WebM instead, and the file is named .webm so nothing is mislabelled. YouTube accepts WebM. For Instagram or TikTok, re-encode it in HandBrake or FFmpeg.

What is the biggest FLAC I can use?

100 MB per file. FLAC shrinks CD-quality audio to roughly half the size of a WAV, so that is usually well over a quarter of an hour of music. High-resolution files (24-bit at 96 kHz or above) are larger per minute, so they reach the limit sooner. For a long album rip, load one track at a time.

Will my browser play my FLAC?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari play FLAC, and the tool uses the browser to decode it. If yours cannot, an error message appears under the button instead of a silent failure. Some very unusual encodes, or files with a wrong extension, can also fail to open, and the message says so.

Are my FLAC files uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding, drawing and recording all happen on your device, and the video file is built there. You can check in your browser's network tab, or go offline once the page has loaded and it still works. That matters for unreleased masters and private rips.

Is there a faster way to make a video from a FLAC?

Yes, if you can install software. FFmpeg and most video editors turn a FLAC and an image into a video much faster than real time. This page is for the other case: a locked-down computer, a borrowed laptop, or a quick preview where installing something would take longer than the song.

A visual over a FLAC is a start. Want the real video?

Attach the track and describe what you want. An AI director storyboards it scene by scene and renders it to your audio. Plans from $19/month.
