Download and Share Your AI Music Video: MP4, Public Link and Spotify Canvas

When a render finishes, the finished screen has a Download button for the MP4 in your project's shape, vertical 9:16 or landscape 16:9. A vertical video also gets a Spotify Canvas download, a 7.6-second loop. The share sheet then gives you an editable caption with your own link. On a phone, Share video hands the file to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or WhatsApp. On desktop, the platform buttons download the file, copy the caption and open the upload page. A public link is off until you turn it on.
Your first 30-second storyboard is free. Plans from $19/month.
How do you download and share a finished AI music video?
Sharing a finished Melodious video takes three moves, in this order. Download the MP4 from the finished screen. Open the share sheet (the Share button) and take the caption it writes for you. Post from your phone with the file itself, or from desktop with the platform buttons. A public link and a Spotify Canvas are extras you choose, not defaults.
Where is the download?
When a render completes, the finished screen puts Download at the front. The file is the master in the shape your project was made in: vertical 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or landscape 16:9 for YouTube. The shape is chosen in the brief ("Where's it going?") and locks when the first keyframe is drawn. A second shape is a new render, not a crop.
That matters for sharing. A crop loses the sides of the frame, so Melodious does not crop. If you made landscape and need vertical, use Make a vertical version on the finished screen. It starts a new project from the same brief in 9:16. The size and aspect ratio guide explains which shape each platform wants.
Finished files are small: a 30-second 720p video comes out at about 15 MB.
How does the share sheet work?
The sheet opens with an editable caption that already includes your own link (melodious.ai/r/<code>). Copy caption puts it on the clipboard, and it is also next to Download on the finished screen. Edit the words as you like; the link is yours, and anyone who opens it can sign up through it.
What happens next depends on the device:
| Device | What you press | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Phone | Share video | The MP4 itself goes to the phone's share sheet: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp |
| Desktop | TikTok, Instagram or YouTube | The video downloads, the caption is copied with tracking tags for that platform (UTM parameters), and the upload page opens. A one-line note tells you this |
If you made a landscape video, the sheet offers a vertical version first, because TikTok, Reels and Shorts are vertical.
For platform specifics, how to make a music video for TikTok covers length and framing, and whether AI music videos are allowed on YouTube and TikTok covers disclosure rules.
What is the public link, and is it on by default?
No, it is off. A video is private until you switch on Public link on the finished screen. Until then, /v/<id> is a 404 for everyone but you. Switching it off makes the page a 404 again on the next request.
When it is on, anyone with the link can watch. The page shows:
- the video and the project name;
- a "Made with Melodious" mark, and a button that goes through your referral link;
- a preview that plays as a video when pasted into chat apps;
noindex, so search engines are asked not to list it, unless you separately opt in to the showcase and Melodious approves it.
There is also an embed player at /v/<id>/embed that other sites can frame. Copy public link in the share sheet copies the link only once it is on: if the link is off, the sheet tells you to turn it on first.
What about Spotify Canvas?
A vertical video gets a Spotify Canvas row on the finished screen, once the render has made the loop, with Download Canvas: a 7.6-second vertical loop of your signature shot. Spotify's own specifications are covered in Spotify Canvas size and dimensions, and how to download a Spotify Canvas covers the upload side.
A landscape video does not get one. The row explains why and offers Make a vertical version, so you never upload a crop.
Thumbnails and the other extras
The finished screen also has a Thumbnails row: three frames taken from the middle of your video's hook, signature and set-piece scenes. Each downloads in your video's own shape, 16:9 for YouTube and 9:16 for Shorts, TikTok and Reels covers. If your channel has YouTube's thumbnail testing, upload all three and keep the winner.

Mistakes to avoid
| Mistake | Better |
|---|---|
| Sharing a screen recording of the preview | Download the MP4 and post the file |
| Posting landscape to a vertical platform | Make a vertical version first |
| Pasting a link and expecting it to be public | The link is off until you switch it on |
| Posting music you do not have rights to | Follow the share sheet's note |
Where you can, post the file itself rather than a link to it: that is exactly what Share video on a phone does.
Frequently asked questions
How do I download my finished AI music video?
When the render completes, the finished screen shows a Download button for the MP4. It is in the shape you chose in the brief, vertical 9:16 or landscape 16:9, and it is a new render in that shape, never a crop of another.
How do I post it to TikTok or Instagram?
On a phone, press Share video and the MP4 itself goes to your phone's share sheet, where you pick TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or WhatsApp. On desktop, the TikTok, Instagram and YouTube buttons download the video, copy your caption and open that platform's upload page, and a line tells you so.
Is my video public once it finishes?
No. A video is private until you turn on Public link on the finished screen. Until then its page is a 404 for everyone except you. Turning the link off makes it a 404 again on the next request.
Can I get a Spotify Canvas from my video?
Yes, from a vertical video. The finished screen has a Spotify Canvas row with a Download Canvas button for a 7.6-second vertical loop of your signature shot. A landscape video does not get one; make a vertical version instead.
Can I get a vertical version of a landscape video?
Yes, with Make a vertical version on the finished screen. It starts a new project from the same brief in 9:16 rather than cropping the landscape file, so nothing is cut off the sides. It is a new render, so check the price on the render screen before you commit.
Do I need to own the music to share the video?
Only share videos of music you own or have the rights to use, and the Melodious share sheet carries that reminder. Posting a video does not clear the rights to the song underneath it, so check your licence or distributor terms first, especially for covers and samples.
