Does Suno Make Music Videos? What Suno Video Does and Does Not Do

By The Melodious Team

The short answer

Suno does not generate a music video for your song. Its Hooks feature, launched in September 2025, lets you pair a Suno song with a video you upload from your device and post it to Suno's Hooks feed; Suno's release notes say it does not generate the video for you. Suno's help center also lists Video among the download options, without describing what that file contains. For a directed video with planned shots, a consistent look and a performer who stays the same, you need a separate tool, working from the audio file you download. This reflects Suno's pages as of 2026-10-05.

Does Suno make music videos?

The short answer: Suno does not generate a music video for your song. Its Hooks feature, launched in September 2025, lets you pair a Suno song with a video you upload from your device and post it to Suno's Hooks feed; Suno's release notes say it does not generate the video for you. This is the question behind most "suno video" searches, and the confusing part is that Suno does have video features. They are real, they are free to try, and none of them does what a video generator does. The complete workflow for getting a finished video is in the Suno music video guide, and the pillar guide is how to turn your Suno song into a music video.

What is a Suno Hook?

Suno's release note for Introducing Hooks (September 22, 2025) calls it "a new way to bring your Suno songs to life through short-form music videos". It adds that Hooks are free to create, that they do not cost credits, and that "Suno doesn't generate the video for you". The tool pairs your own video with a song from your Recents, Public or Liked library.

The help article Create: Hooks gives the steps:

  1. Tap Create a Hook at the top right of the Hooks feed.
  2. Select a song from your Recents, Public or Liked library.
  3. Scrub through the song to choose the start point.
  4. Upload a video from your device's library, and optionally switch on Show Lyrics.
  5. Select Post to add it to the Hooks feed.

Other creators can give a thumbs-up, comment, share and remix your Hook, and the release note says you can remix a Hook you like and then make a Hook of your remix. It is a social feed inside Suno, so the audience is other Suno users.

What does the Suno video download do?

Suno's file types article lists the download options by plan: MP3 on all plans, WAV for Pro and Premier on suno.com, stems when they exist, MIDI for Premier songs made in Suno Studio, and "Video", with the line "Songs can be downloaded as video files from Suno". It adds that options vary by song, feature, plan and device.

That is all the page says. It does not describe the contents of the video, its length or its shape, so we are not going to guess. If you plan to publish one, download it and look at it first. Also remember the allowance: Suno's September 2026 FAQ says a download is counted per song regardless of format, with 7 lifetime trial downloads on Free, 20 a month on Pro and 60 on Premier.

What none of this replaces

A Hook and a video download put pictures with your audio. They do not plan a video. The gaps are the ones a viewer notices:

  • Shots planned against the song. A chorus shot differently from the verse before it, cuts that follow the tempo, an ending that lands where the song ends.
  • One look across the video. The same palette, light and film texture from the first shot to the last.
  • A performer who stays the same. An AI-made song has no real artist, so a tool that invents a face per shot gives you a different singer each time.
  • Control before you commit. Seeing the storyboard and keyframes, and changing them, before the expensive render.

That is the job of a separate tool. In Melodious you download your song from Suno, upload the file, write a brief for free, choose a length of 16, 30 or 60 seconds or the full song, choose landscape or vertical, and look at a storyboard before you pay to render. There is no link to Suno; the file is the handoff. The longer version is in the guide to making a music video from a Suno song, and the shorter product page is the Suno AI music video generator.

Can a video made elsewhere be a Hook?

The two are not rivals. Because a Hook takes any video you upload, a vertical clip made from your song in another tool can serve as the video for your Hook. If you do that, make it vertical, since Hooks are a short-form feed, and use the part of the song you will start the Hook on. For the vertical-versus-landscape decision, see the aspect ratio guide, and for posting beyond Suno, see how to post your Suno song to YouTube, TikTok and Spotify.

Do Suno's commercial rules apply to a video?

A video on Suno's own feed is a different matter from a video on a monetized YouTube channel or a distributor release. Suno's terms limit free and Basic users to personal, non-commercial use, and tie commercial rights to Pro or Premier and a permitted download. Suno commercial use, explained from its own terms covers the plan-by-plan detail, and whether AI music videos are allowed on YouTube and TikTok covers the platform side.

Frequently asked questions

Does Suno have a video generator?

Not one that builds a video from your song. Suno's release notes for Hooks say Suno does not generate the video for you; you upload a clip and Suno pairs it with your song. Videos made by other tools can be uploaded as that clip.

What is a Suno Hook?

A short-form post that combines one of your songs with a video you upload. Suno's help article says you tap Create a Hook, pick a song from Recents, Public or Liked, choose where in the song it starts, upload a video from your device, optionally show lyrics, and post it to the Hooks feed. Other people can give a thumbs-up, comment, share or remix it.

Does making a Hook cost credits?

Suno's release notes say Hooks are free to create and do not cost credits.

Can I download a Suno song as a video?

Suno's help center lists Video among the download options, saying songs can be downloaded as video files from Suno. The article does not describe what the video shows, so check what you get before relying on it for a release. Downloads count against your plan's allowance.

Can I use a Hook on YouTube or TikTok?

A Hook is built to live on Suno's own feed. If you want a video for other platforms, you would use the clip you made rather than the Hook itself, and the commercial rules in Suno's terms still apply to the song. See the posts linked below on rights and posting.

Does Melodious work with Suno Hooks?

No. Melodious is independent and has no connection to Suno. You can make a vertical video from your downloaded song in Melodious and upload that video to Suno as the clip for a Hook, but nothing links the two products.

Want the video Suno does not make?

Upload your download, write a free brief, and see a storyboard of keyframes before you decide to render.
