Director Styles
Tell the AI what kind of director it is before you type a word, and steer the whole storyboard.
What it is
A Director style is a creative-director persona that shapes your storyboard and every shot's prompt. Pick one before your first message and the same song produces a visibly different video. It's the difference between "make me a music video" and "make me a moody cinematic music video, directed like a hip-hop producer."
You set it from the composer's + menu, so the direction is in place before you describe anything.
How to use it
- On the create screen (or in a project), open the composer's
+menu. - Choose Director style. The picker rises up from the composer.

- Pick a preset, or choose Custom to write your own brief.

Once chosen, it shows as a removable chip on the composer: 🎬 Director: <name> ✕. The style persists on the project and is visible when you reload. Change it any time and regenerate to apply it.
The presets
| Preset | Best for | |---|---| | Hip-hop video producer | Rap, trap, drill, high-energy performance | | Moody cinematic | Slow, atmospheric, film-grade scenes | | Indie / lo-fi | Warm, intimate, handmade aesthetics | | High-energy performance | Live-feel, fast cuts, stage energy | | Surreal / dreamlike | Abstract, otherworldly visuals | | Documentary-realist | Grounded, naturalistic, real-world |
Writing a good custom brief
Choose Custom and describe the look in plain language, for example "70s grindhouse trailer, heavy film grain, neon signage, handheld." Keep it under 200 characters. Lead with the aesthetic and the energy, not a named artist (use descriptors like "80s synthwave aesthetic," not artist names).
Common questions
Does changing the director rewrite my approved scenes? No. Changing the style affects later turns and regenerations. It never silently rewrites shots you already approved. Regenerate to apply the new style, which costs only keyframe credits.
Will two directors really give me different videos from the same song? Yes. The persona is threaded into the storyboard and into every keyframe prompt, so the same track under two directors gives you two visibly different storyboards.
Can I break or see the system prompt with a custom brief? No. The custom text fills a single constrained slot with safety rules ordered after it, and it's length-capped and sanitised. An injection-style brief can't override the rules or leak the prompt.
